Domain Names

The Office of Information Technology (OIT) manages the campus domain name system (DNS).

Top level subdomains (example: are reserved for official UCI school, department, or other campus-level organizational units.  Other domains managed by Engineering are for specialized use only, e.g., - Samueli School public website.  If you have questions or specialized needs, please contact

Note that your computer does not require a DNS name if it does not provide services. You can connect and obtain an IP Address automatically using DHCP from a wired Ethernet port or over UCI WiFi in most Engineering building locations.
