Faculty Websites

UCI offers a few options for personal research or research group websites.

UCI Office of Information Technology provides basic Wordpress sites at no charge.
More info at: http://faculty.sites.uci.edu/are-faculty-websites-right-for-you/. This is your simplest option.

UCI has Google Apps for Education (also called G Suite) available and you can build websites there. More info: http://google.uci.edu/, https://gsuite.google.com/products/sites/

For researchers who have already developed their own static HTML website, we can provide modest server file space for this for free. This is less popular for new sites, but is an option. Contact us at helpdesk@eng.uci.edu. For security reasons, we don't allow installing other CMS products or scripting in this environment.

The School of Engineering uses Drupal 7 (a content management system) for our Samueli School of Engineering website, and we also host Drupal research and project sites. We'd be happy to create a basic Drupal 7 site for you at no charge, if the OIT Wordpress offering doesn't meet your needs. Drupal uses a content editing toolbar (like MS Word) and adding and editing pages is easy. Debbie Morales (School of Engineering Webmaster) can provide some initial one-on-one training on working with Drupal if needed.

You will create and edit the website content (pages) yourself, or you can grant this permission to others (e.g., graduate student or assistant).

If your site doesn't fit in that framework, OIT will support custom Wordpress sites for a fee. More info: http://sites.uci.edu/wordpress-comparison/
